Model Profile: Lexington Park 2

Daily Herald

About a year ago, Arthur Averbukh purchased a new townhouse at Lexington Park in Des Plaines and has been raving about it ever since.

“This is the first time a place has felt like home,” said Averbukh, who has lived off and on in Des Plaines for more than 20 years. “The layout is great; everything is open and nice. And with three floors, and no basement to worry about, it seems like a single-family home.

“For the final walk-through, I took my shoes off; it was that perfect,” he said. “I never have luck like this; I can’t believe it.”

The popular Lexington Park community of luxury townhouses in Des Plaines is well into its second phase with 53 units in three buildings under construction and deliveries expected next summer.

Lexington Park 2 continues to offer its popular models that feature the builder’s signature touches, such as arched entryways, kitchen pass-through, built-in window seat in the master bedroom, and a first-floor den situated off the kitchen.

Located north of Miner Street in downtown Des Plaines, the townhouses come standard with two to three bedrooms, 2½ baths and attached two-car garage. Buyers also can select from a variety of options and upgrades.

What contributes to the community’s success?

“Location has been a great draw for us,” said Jeff Benach, co-principal of Lexington Homes. “We’re within walking distance of Metra, 10 minutes from O’Hare and close to two major expressways.

“People like the designs, and the pricing is great. A lot of people have moved here from the city because they couldn’t afford something like this there.”

The Coventry was a great find for Averbukh, who loves the corner unit layout with lots of windows. “If I were to design it myself, I wouldn’t do it any differently,” he said.

Averbukh was also impressed with the quality of construction and customer service.

“I’ve looked at a lot of places, and the quality and design here is better than anything I’ve seen,” Averbukh said. “From the models, I could see the builder wasn’t cutting any corners, and they were generous with the square footage.

“Their customer service is excellent. They give you their full attention as soon as you walk through the door, and it continues through the whole home-buying process.

“I looked at several of places where the service wasn’t there. They just say, ‘Here’s a brochure; go look at the property.’”

Here are highlights of the three model homes open for visitors to tour.

• The Warrington shows a contemporary interior with a chocolate, green and cream color scheme and dark wood furnishings. The home features an open living and dining room, hardwood floors and Juliette balcony.

The eat-in kitchen includes stainless steel appliances, cherry cabinetry topped with granite, and doors to the oversized balcony. Off the kitchen, the first-floor den has a view of the outdoors.

Upstairs, two master suites sit at opposite ends of the home where roommates or guests will have plenty of privacy. Buyers can opt for two secondary bedrooms in lieu of the second master suite.

The finished lower level is outfitted as a game room with a poker table and plasma TV.

• The Coventry showcases a contemporary interior with a brown, eggplant and cream color scheme. Similar to the Warrington, this floor plan features a Juliette balcony off the open living and dining room, and hardwood flooring.

The open, airy kitchen with extra windows includes stainless steel appliances, maple cabinetry with granite countertops, pantry and pass-through to the dining area.

The upper-level master suite features a vaulted ceiling while the luxury bath has dual sinks, tub and walk-in shower. Two secondary bedrooms with vaulted ceilings are shown as a guest room and home office with a photography theme and camera display.

The finished lower level is set up as a family room with a large sectional and plasma TV.

• The Bristol showcases many of the features in the Warrington and Coventry plans, but is decorated as a vignette so buyers can envision their own furniture in the home.

To visit Lexington Park 2, take I-294 and exit at Dempster Street west. Travel 1½ miles through downtown Des Plaines and turn right at Western Avenue, continuing one-quarter mile to Harding Avenue. Turn right at Harding Avenue and the sales center is on the left.

"From the knowledgeable and friendly staff to the caring construction manager on site, it has been an absolute pleasure buying from Lexington Square."
