Chicago Rowhomes in Demand
Chicago-based Lexington Homes has kicked off sales for its new community of 21 row homes in the city's popular Bridgeport neighborhood located about 15 minutes from downtown.
Lexington Square 4 offers the same two popular floor plans offered at the builder’s three earlier row home phases, all of which are sold out. Base-priced from $409,990, the row homes range in size from 2,216 to 2,507 square feet and were designed to feel more like single-family homes, says Jeff Benach, Lexington co-principal. The spacious floor plans feature open layouts, eat-in kitchens, three bedrooms, walk-in closets, and rooftop decks. The lower level family room offers the option to add a full or half bath and convert the family room to a fourth bedroom. Buyers also have the option to add a fireplace to the living room and expand the kitchen island to include a breakfast bar that seats four.
Space-saving solutions like sliding barn doors are prominently featured in the community's newly opened model. The sliding barn doors, painted to match the other interior doors in the model, are available as an upgrade to create a fashionable statement in the master bathroom or the entry of the optional fourth bedroom on the lower level of the home. Standard features include granite countertops, GE stainless steel appliances and 42-inch upper cabinets in the kitchen; hardwood flooring throughout the main level; and raised-height vanities with granite or marble countertops in all baths.
Potential buyers have been impressed with the amount of living space in the row home, says Benach. “Designed to live more like a single-family home, the floor plan offers extra functional and flexible living areas, plus an abundance of outdoor private spaces, including a rooftop deck, fenced-in front yard and a balcony off the kitchen, perfect for growing families.”
Since entering the Bridgeport community in 2009, Lexington has built more than 100 single-family homes and row homes in the area, and has no plans to slow down given Bridgeport’s recent accolades as a popular Chicago neighborhood for home buyers, says Benach.
“When we decided to build in Bridgeport, we felt the neighborhood was like a hidden gem that hadn’t been discovered,” he says. “Well now, the secret is out. I like to think we had something to do with helping Bridgeport’s transformation over the past seven years."
The company's family-friendly enclave of new-construction homes have drawn couples and families looking to move up from their West Loop or South Loop condo/apartment, he says. "As the families continue to move in, a growing number of retailers and restaurateurs are following them."
"The whole process was smooth, starting from making the decision on the property."
